Not Me 03/08/10

Another lovely Monday morning!  Another confession or 2 to share...or not :)

I do not burn the biscuits pretty much every single time I make them.  This could not be remedied by simply setting a timer...nope I would never think I will remember them every time!  I did not do this at breakfast this morning in fact!

I did not decide not shaving all week was totally fine...if I did, it would for sure be the very first time this happened!

I did not do a project 3 weeks ago that is just waiting to be hung up...still!  Nope, not me.

I did not hear Sawyer getting into the dog food and run for the camera instead of the baby!  No way!

We did not FINALLY get Sawyer his first big boy crib!  Yes, he is 9 months old and just now in a crib...yeah we're ghetto like that!  I mean...nope not us!  We had a crib before he was born!  Who puts a baby in a pack in play for that long???
Disregard chaotic bed in background...room had to be rearranged a little

and last but not least...

I did not break down and give the baby a bottle in his crib!  I think this is such a lazy move... a lazy move after 9 months of NEVER even considering it broke down and did it.
PS the extra 1.5 hours of sleep was AMAZING!

Now...what DIDN'T you do??

Easiest Way to Size Pictures?

I advertise Inner Hooker on a few blogs; Craftaholics Anonymous and UCreate.  These blogs require you to have your image a certain size... I SUCK AT THIS!!!  I have always had a friend do them for me but feel bad every month when I want to change my image :)

Anyone have any recommendations?  Sites, programs, tutorials?

Thanks!

St. Patricks Day Topiary...on a budget

For the last year I have seen so many great topiaries and had zero time to make them. Now that I am not working I have the time but the money is not so abundant. I am slowly learning to live on a budget...a fairly tight one in fact! I really, really wanted to start decorating for Easter and Spring but it felt a little early so I decided to decorate for St. Patrick's Day.

Here is budget friendly decor!

styrofoam ball (2 pack): $3.49/2= $1.75
green Spray paint: $ 0.97
stone spray paint: on hand
pot: on hand
ribbon & twine: on hand
acorns: from the yard
glue: on hand
moss: on hand

Total cost: $2.72
I do realize this would be more if I wasn't a craft hoarder :)

I had 3 projects going on at once and can't believe I didn't get any of this one while going through the process...My apologies!  Here is the run down of how I made it!

Rummage the front yard for A LOT of acorns...well half acorns at this point. If you don't have acorns you can use dried beans as well!  Dust off as much dirt as possible, (having made this...spray painting the ball first would have been the smarter route! It was really hard to get all of the white covered in between the acorns) Glue the acorns all over the styro ball...try to get them as close together as possible. Let dry and spray paint green! I also spray painted my pot with faux stone to match some other stuff I have.  I wanted the pot to be reusable for other topiaries.  You could paint the pot whatever or even just add a strip of scrapbook paper. The acorns took a few rounds of spray paint. Once everything is dry jam a stick (also from the yard) into the ball and into the pot.  A chunk of floral styrofoam in the bottom will help keep the stick steady. Add moss, rocks, candy or whatever you choose! Tie off with some twine and random green ribbon!

Hope you enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How pitiful is that sad plant :(  That pot needs some paint too!

Post It Note Tuesday 03/02

Supah Mommy explains it best on her blog to get there and play for yourself click on the post it...she sums it up

"Why bother wasting your breath, spewing verbalness... when you can simply sum it all up in one neat n tidy little post it note."

Love it!

Addendum to Not Me

After my morning rant I happen to run across this blog post over at Prudent Baby... I am going to focus on this.  I will be grateful that we did well all year and our money is hopefully going to good places...not government bail outs :)

Not Me 03/01

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I must have behaved fairly well this week...as I sit here I struggle with thinking of anything I didn't do. I mean I have all my usual I did not let me house go to hell because I am crafting...and well doing anything other than cleaning!

I most certainly did not finally do my taxes only to find we are not even getting enough to make a car payment. I have huge issues with taxes. I feel that so many people get SCREWED! We paid in a lot...I mean seriously a ton of money last year, had another baby and bought a house! What do we get back....crap! Nothing pisses me off more than feeling like I get the shaft and then I over hear people that received government assistance all year and they get thousands...more than they even paid in!

Grrr....ok that is my rant for the day...Not that any of this happened of course!
