East Texas Fair 2011

Outrageous prices, fried food, filthy rides, does it get any better than the fair?  As I get older I realize the fair is really only fun when you are tall enough to ride all the rides and not a parent.  As a parent it's moderately stressful and includes A LOT of standing around and wrestling a certain 2 year old that has no clue what standing in a line until it's his turn means.

A few shots from the night.

Dex & Daddy

Sam & Karly
baby Dex
who doesn't love the swings?

my hairy boy!  Love that little face!
So big

world's longest french fry
Sam's first kiss
Melman the giraffe.  So awesome to see but a little sad and depressing
Sawyer was in love!  "Jaff, Jaff, Jaff" is how he says it :)  He loved feeding Melman and even kissed her on the way out.

Kar has a strange obsession with brown cows

Pretty sure Dex came for the food!  Pizza, cheese fries and cheeseburger.  The boy can take down some food.

and what post would be complete without some iphone footage.  Am I the only person that is really bad about using their phone for a camera instead of the camera?  I did pretty good this time but some days I am so bad!

Sawyer & sister slide

Thanks for showing us a good time!
Until next year you dirty filthy fair!

Week 4 & Week 5

How's everyone doing so far??  My apologies for not getting a goal up last week.

I was dealing with this
Poor sick Dex

Poor sick baby :(  After a week he is finally back to normal...or close to it anyways.

So with a freebie week did you catch up?  did you slack?  I wish I could say I got all the way caught up but like I said I did a lot of baby holding!  I am close to caught up and after this week (another half assignment) I have high hopes I'll be caught up.

Here are my happy little stacks

I currently have:
25 through round 2
41 through round 4
and 22 though round 4

We are going to pick up the second half of the last assignment.
Here are your recommendations for goals this week, pick whichever you want:

1) work 44 squares through round 4

2) if you worked half of your squares through round 4 last week. Work 22 more.

If doing #1 or #2 you should have all 88 through round 4 at the end of this week

3) Work 6 full squares

In addition, if you haven't been dealing with your tails now would be a good week to start weaving some in!

We will be back to a full assignment next week so try to catch up!

This is the second half assignment of last week. Remember these are just general ideas, if you are just cruising along doing your own thang keep on cruisin’!  Love, love, love the pictures you are sharing!

I can't be the only person that feels this way!

Right?!?!  Nothing makes me crazier than clicking only to go to a website or blog and never be able to find the pinned picture!

Ok, back to pinning :)

Weekend in iPhotos

I have seen this on a few blogs and love the idea so I am jumping on the bandwagon too!

My weekend in iPhone photos!

Most important my little baby took his first steps!  Can't believe baby Dex is already almost 10 months old :(  Make time stop please.

Did some hooking on Friday.  Sawyer helped.

A trip to Home Depot with my momma (and kids of course) and some pirate role play

Washed the windows
also raked a million leaves...seriously like 15 bags full but forgot to get a picture of them

Painted the shutters on my house (ok, half of them)
{notice the paint on Sawyer's leg it's also in his hair}

baby Dex supervised

and the kids played outside while I worked...a lot

Also made some delish tamales!  I didn't know I was going to do this so I just used the random pics I happened to take.  Hopefully I'll take more next weekend!

Crochet Along Week 3

Woo Hoo!

We survived the first 2 weeks! Is anyone caught up?? So far we have made approximately 4,224 stitches!!! That isn’t even counting the individual stitches in the puffs and clusters! If we counted the 5ish stitches in each it would be around 15,500! That is a whole lot of hooking! Honestly, I think I may have set our goals a little high but it has definitely kept us all working hard on it. I think most people are behind and we had a lot of new people join us this week so I think we will have a slightly easier goal for week 3. If you are on track or just an over achiever feel free to keep moving at this pace you’ll just be ahead a little!

Here are your recommendations for goals this week, pick whichever you want:

1) work 44 squares through round 4

2) if you worked half of your squares through round 4 last week. Work 22 more

3) Work 6 full squares

This is pretty much a half assignment of last week. Remember these are just general ideas, if you are just cruising along doing your own thang keep on cruisin’! I will be doing #2 I think but feel free to do whichever suits you. I am LOVING all of these pictures you are sharing! If you are blogging your progress PLEASE link up below!  We only had 2 bloggers last week!  Remember to also share your pictures on my facebook and our Flikr group.

Mess = Entertainment

Yes, that is my brute of a son slamming and crushing every ounce of water out of his cup.

Yes he is making a huge mess.

Yes, it is totally worth it to me.
10 minutes of entertainment in exchange for a minute of clean up and a clean table to boot.

Yes, I think that's a fair trade.

Week 2 Crochet Along

Week 2

One week down!  How did you do??  Did you meet the goal??  Work beyond or perhaps you have a little catching up to do??  I have about 40 more round 2's to go but will finish them tomorrow.  I actually am typing this at 1:30am so I guess it would be today not tomorrow.

My line up!  I plan on doing color through round 3 or 4 (probably 4) and then the last round and joining with a creamy ivory color.

lots of round 1's!!  Look at all those tails!  Yes, this is what I still had Wednesday!
Someday I will stop procrastinating!

My little assistant eating a round 1

and as of 2am  :(  Still have quite a few to go but hopeful I'll wrap them up today!

Week 2 Assignment
there are a few options

1.  continue working 1 round per granny (complete through round 3 on all) **I will probably do this one
2.  work 10-12 complete grannies
3.  if you get bored working the same round work rounds 3 and 4 on 44 of them (you will do this again next week)

Feel free to share your pics on any or all of the sites below!  I can't wait to see them!
Flikr  (I am not very Flikr savvy so hopefully I did that correctly!)
someone also asked about a Ravelry group.  I'll look into it and try to have it together by next Friday.
