Not Me Monday 04/12

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Onto the dirt!
I did not neglect my laundry all week. Yes, all week long. That would be irresponsible and idiotic of me. I mean, no one else is going to catch it back up for me!

I am not still seriously feeling newly pregnant. This is my 3rd pregnancy, I should be able to handle them by now.

I am not still in a little shock and denial that I am pregnant again!

The tables we used for our Easter party are not still inside my house. Nope, I would have definitely drug them back out to the garage by now. Seriously, it would be a bit ridiculous of me not to have put them away by now!

I did not find 2 straight pins in S's snacks. Nope, I am far more mindful than that! Note to self: no sewing while serving snacks

Sawyer did not crawl around outside while I watered the garden. While doing so he did not eat a little dirt and chew on a rubber duck that once was his but taken over by the dog. A mom like me would race over and take the duck and move the baby from the dirt. Yes, that would be me!

What didn't you do last week?

Wanna Make it Wednesday UPDATES

Can you believe I finally made some things off my Wanna Make it list?
Impressive I know ;)

I thought it would be fun to post a few outcomes...up first;

Tie Dyed Eggs
In a previous Wanna Make it Wednesday I talk about these tie dyed eggs.  I thought they were so pretty and something different and fun!  So I set out to Goodwill.  I was hoping to find ties for a quarter but I guess .99 cents for a 100% silk tie isn't too shabby.  My original post can be found HERE.  Aren't those pretty?!?!  Ok, here's a few shots from mine.

My selection of ties

That's right $0.99 a lovely number isn't it?
Especially when you see this original price tag, $62.50

I will admit they look pretty cute all tied up.  I had to tie mine alone, I do think they would have turned out MUCH better had I had another hand or two around to hold or tie.
Ready to boil!
And sadly...the ONLY picture I took of the finished ones...and with my phone!  Jeez I suck sometimes!  O'well, you get the idea!
Recap:  Do these with 2 people unless you have mad holding and tieing skills!  I did save my ties and will give it another go next year!

NEXT up... Strawberry Lemonade Bars that I blogged about here.  I think these would be super delish...had I not forgotten them in the oven and cooked them 30 minutes longer!  I still snuck a few bites from underneath the crusty burnt surface and it was so great!  Refreshing and tangy and perfect!  I will be trying these again really soon!

Jumping ALL THE WAY back to February
The Chunky Scarf from Prudent Baby;

I made this for my mom per her Prudent Baby's instructions of length; next time I will make it at least 10 stitches longer, probably more.  I hate the feeling of stuff that close to my neck!  This may make it to the Christmas gifts list for others!  It crochets up super quick and is cute and cozy.

Ballard's version; $49 per letter = $300 for that one word!  I do love them but OUCH!

Imperfectly Beautiful's Version
$8 total!

and my version.

I did do them a little different using what tools and supplies I had.
6 embroidery hoops= 6.00
canvas fabric= 3.00
can of black spray paint= 0.99
freezer paper= on hand
fabric paint and sponge bruch= on hand

Grand Total= about 10 buckaroos!

First I spray painted the outer ring of the embroidery hoops.  Then I used freezer paper to create a silk screen type situation on the canvas.  There are a lot of tutorial out there if you haven't tried it do it today!

Pulled the canvas in the hoops, trimmed and hot glued them down so they wouldn't slip.
Tada!

This really wasn't too bad to actually make.  It took me a few hours being interuppted regularly.  Now actually hanging them took at least a month.  Why? because I have a huge disorder called PROCRASTINATION!  Yes I suck.  I am loving them though; now to just hang the picture frames below it that I prettified just for this reason.

Sorry for the sucky pictures!  Hopefully when I get my frames up (keyword: WHEN) the light will be better = a better pic!

Hope you enjoyed my little updates!

Wanna Make it Wednesday 04/07

Sorry for the late 3 hours left of Wednesday Wanna Make It Wednesday post. Can you believe I didn't even check my blogs this morning?!?! Pretty crazy I tell ya! I am a coffee blog reader every morning. I had some stuff to get done early and met a friend for lunch. It was nice to get out of the house for a few hours. I only have 2 for you today but both are great!

First, I am obsessed with felt playhouses. I am sure you have seen quite a few of these all over the internet for sale or tutorials on how to make it yourself. I think my most favorite is Apt 9 by Homemade by Jill; Jill has a TON of great tutorials. I have made more than one and am always impressed by how clear she writes the instructions. Isn't this AMAZING?!?! I really want to make one for S and maybe for a few other littles I know!

Search online and you will find a ton of inspiration to create your own!

and these days it wouldn't be a Wanna Make It without a food post. I am really feeling lemony stuff lately. I think it screams summer and I am ready for the sun! The How To Gal shares her tips and tricks for a Taste of Home recipe for Delicious Lemon Gems. I can't wait to make this super cute hope they are tasties!
Check back tomorrow for an update to past Wanna Make Its...yes, I actually do make some of these!  I'll share my pics and outcomes :)

Owens Idols

Karly and her 2 friends Haley and Sam were recently in their school's talent show, Owens Idols.  They danced to the song Fireflies by Owl City (if I hear this song again I may go crazy!) and did great!  I will admit I wish Karly had actually used some of the dance skill she has learned over her last 8 years of ballet but hey...I can't always get what I want!  I recorded this on my camera but it's too big to upload here or even to YouTube soooo you have to trust me that it went well.  Here are some pictures from the night!

During part of the dance they do this bend over thing and when they came up Sam and Karly's hair was out of control!  Karly's was much more obvious I am guessing because it's so dark.  I seriously was laughing so hard.  In the video it's shaking and you can hear me...out of control I tell ya!
Either way my little trooper danced and smiled right through!  Hair tangled in her bow and all!  Karly you rock little lady!

Not Me 04/05

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not eat 2 cupcakes for breakfast this morning. If I did I wouldn't use the old justification, "they are no worse than donuts"...once again.

I did not blow Karly off when she said her throat hurt Friday only to end up in urgent care with strep throat Saturday. I most definitely wouldn't assume it was her allergies and the fact that she is a huge hypochondriac.

I did not nap 5 out of 7 days last week. I am far more productive when Sawyer sleeps than that. I mean really 2 hours of quiet time to clean and craft...I would never curl up next to him instead!

My son would never toss everything off of the side table and then climb on top of it.  He knows better especially as I was telling him NO!  I most certainly didn't take full advantage and snap a picture before yanking him off!
Sawyer did not fall asleep for his afternoon nap on the floor.  I keep a much better schedule than that.  If he did I would then put him in bed.  Who am I kidding???  I'd be out of my mind to risk waking him for a simple move!  It must not have been too uncomfortable because he did sleep for 2 hours and I did toss a blanket over him :)

I most certainly vacuum more often than it looks...or maybe not ;)

Now, what didn't YOU do??

Cruisin'

After stalking Craigslist and garage sales for months I finally broke down and bought a bike!  Not just any bike...a beach cruiser!  Ok, so not a real one, a slightly less cool Huffy cruiser as opposed to the twice the price Schwinn I was really eyeballing.  (of course a bitchin green Schwinn Cruiser appeared on CL a week later-yes I still look so I can get mad when one appears) I also got a baby seat and helmet and we are officially rockin and rollin!  The first time Sawyer screamed and cried; a few minor adjustments and he now loves it!  Not to mention just how adorable he looks.  I put the baseball cap on first, it seems to hold the helmet on better and keeps it from falling down in his face and blocking his eyes.  He takes in all the sights for about 10 minutes and then falls asleep.  I need to find a way to keep his head from bashing me in the back once he is asleep though.  Would it be bad to bungee his helmet to the seat?? ;) yeah, yeah I know not a good plan!  Any ideas?
