Karly's 12th birthday

Can you believe she is 12?!?! I seriously have no idea where the last 12 years have gone! She has grown up so much in the last year or two. She is doing great in school as usual! She has the second highest GPA in her team (6th grade is split into 3 or 4 teams), is still playing cello, doing ballet, and is getting into boys! Did anyone else just feel like they may throw up or is it just me? Yuck, for boys! I am so not ready for this phase. Karly is a little bitter that she is the only one that isn't allowed to "date", especially since "dating" really doesn't mean anything other than you say it but o'well. I am not ready for the drama that comes with boys. The boys aren't even my concern...it's the evil girl drama that will no doubt come with it.

I was due with Baby O 9 days after Karly's birthday and she was very concerned that she would have to share her day. I wasn't really up to throwing a full blown party so we just did cake and presents at the house this year and perhaps we'll have a party in the spring or summer as a late birthday/just for fun party.

Happy Birthday Karly! We love you!

Now stop growing up!

Karly's Christmas Cello Performance

December 7 Karly had her 2nd cello performance.  They played a few Christmas carols and got us all in the holiday spirit.  This time they played at the little convention center...yeah, they are big time ;)  Sawyer wanted to go on stage and help Karly thank goodness my mom came along to help wrangle him!  (Chris had to work)

I couldn't be more proud of my little cellist!

Enjoy!

PLEASE let me go play with my sister!

My little cellist

Karly’s school requires all 6th graders to have art or instrument class.  Karly of course in true Karly fashion picked the one that would cost me money…and of course then the most expensive instrument.  That’s my little cellist!  In all seriousness, it is really a beautiful instrument and I hope she sticks with it beyond 6th grade.

Last Monday she had her first school performance for her orchestra class.  I will admit I was expecting to have ringing ears when I left, but overall they were really pretty good!  I played the violin in 2nd grade and I was AWFUL!!!!  These kids were good!  They have only been playing for about 6 weeks and only have class for about 45 minutes a day.   Here are a few video clips of it!  Sorry for the blurry wobbly video taking I wasn’t very comfortable and Sawyer decided he would be a wild man.

Enjoy!

In this video you'll notice the boys smacking the strings...yeah she was supposed to do that too, but why doesn't she??? When I asked, her answer "it looks ugly, cellos are pretty and that makes them look ugly"

Nice Kar. That's my child.

Life is busy, busy which is my only excuse for being a slacker!

My name is Scotti and I am a blog slacker. I have really, really been slacking around here! Of course I still read my other favorite blogs while enjoying my coffee but haven't really kept up with writing on my own. Shame, Shame!

On the positive side I have been very busy creating and enjoying the summer time with my kids. I have 2 new patterns complete and 2 or 3 more in process. I am meeting up with one of my favorite ladies Ciara (Ciara's fb, blog, website) next week to get some new product pics so I have been busy, busy trying to get stuff ready for it. I have a few brand new items that I can't wait to share with you! I am also getting some real pictures done of a few items I have listed but are in need of real photos. It's amazing how much better an item sells when it's appealing to look at ;) I seriously can't wait to see what she comes up with! Now cross your fingers Sawyer cooperates. He tends to not enjoy posing and really hates hats right now!

I am currently hosting a photo contest on my facebook page...there is still time to vote if you want to check it out! There are some great photos! I will be hosting a giveaway in a few days as a thank you to all my new fans. This photo contest brought in 200 new fans so I definitely need to say and show some thanks! It will be an easy to enter contest, patterns and real items so if you aren't already a fan you may want to join up!  Can't crochet?  There will be other items!

Other than business stuff we have been enjoying the pool and being lazy! Sawyer is still attempting to make us think he is going to walk any day now. He takes steps here and there but once he realizes it he sits right back down and crawls. Karly's bff comes home on Wednesday and she is thrilled. Apparently Sawyer and I aren't nearly as cool as an 11 year old girl. Here a few pictures from yesterday in the pool and bath. It's been raining on and off so it's about the only pool time we have had in a week or two!

Bath time= Sawyer's favorite time!
He is laughing at Karly in pretty much every picture :)

Karly is a 5th grade graduate!

Karly is a 5th grade graduate! Can you believe it? Seriously when did my sweet little girl grow up? She is getting soooo OLD! She looked so pretty! She did great with her grades and on her standardized tests as usual. I am so lucky to have a kid that breezes through school.

She constantly talks about how she is now a 6th grader or a middle schooler and all the thrill that includes. She is also one this "when can I date" kick? Ummm when I am dead? I realize they don't really go anywhere when they are "going out" which makes me ask why bother? I just feel like adding boys will add so much drama to the scene of young middle school girls. Girls of this age already seem dramatic and caddy enough without the "she stole my boyfriend", "she KNEW I like him", "he said he liked me", etc... I mean I was a young girl not long ago and I remember the drama! I don't remember it in 6th grade though? When I was that age I just had secret crushes on boys and maybe wrote their last name as mine on my notebook and then hid it so no one would know! What age do you think is good to "go out" with boys?

Here are just a few pics. Sawyer and I were both sick and fairly miserable and the set up was not working for picture taking. You'll just have to trust she looked and did great!

A little singing

I totally missed them calling her name....and then tried to flip it to picture fast enough to get one...failed.
(Reminds me of my high school graduation and my sister missing only me graduate.  Thanks Erica.)

Fun at the Spray Park

2 or 3 weeks back we headed to the park down the road. I had hopes of getting a few decent pictures of the sunhat on Sawyer and then the kids could play in the spray park. Yes we have a pool in our backyard that one would assume is cooler than some spray stuff but nope...they still dig the spray park. Here are a few pics!

Look at those pretty eyeballs!  So sparkly and innocent!

Sorry there aren't more pictures of Karly.  She is far too cool these days to pose for pictures for her mom.  Oh and her and her friend played in the other area where her brother wouldn't be an inconvenience to her image ;)

Karly's Ballet Recital

Dancing Queen!

Karly's end of the year ballet recital was last weekend! She looked absolutely adorable and did great! She is really, REALLY hoping to make pointe next year. She has always been a good little dancer but it seems like this last year she started taking it much more seriously. It was great to see her look more like a confident dancer and less like a little girl. Bittersweet :(
It is great to see her passionate about something and going for it.

She was one of the last groups to perform.  By the time she went up my nerves were fairly frazzled with Sawyer after attempting to entertain him on my lap for the previous hour and a half.

Chris recorded. Forgive him. Take a dramamine. Hang on tight.

She starts on the left...if you lose her she is the shortest one up there.

Way to go Kar!!!
